About Us
Sonoran Paranormal Investigations (S.P.I) is a paranormal investigation group located in and serving the state of Arizona. We have members from Flagstaff to Tucson and we are able to meet the needs of families and businesses throughout the entire state. Our dedicated group of investigators are willing and able to travel from one corner of the state to another - all in the name of science!
Starting with just four people, the founders of S.P.I originally set out to research and study haunting based paranormal claims in order to learn, help people, and contribute to the scientific community. We are not exterminators, that is, we will never promise to rid a client of ghosts however we do aim to arm our clients with information and help them to understand what is happening in their homes or businesses and we can put our clients in touch with other professionals who can permanently solve the problem (you name it - electricians or home contractors to folks to do cleansings) as needed. Since S.P.I formed we have grown - doubling our membership. We have sought out like minded individuals also seeking to find out what is really going on. This year, we were proud to become TAPS Family Members. Becoming involved with the TAPS Family not only ensures that we are doing the right thing - but it keeps us doing the right thing. The TAPS Family affiliation provides S.P.I and our clientel with access to some of the best and brightest in the field and ensures that we have access to the latest information and knowledge of the latest technology available. S.P.I is also very proud to represent Arizona in the International Paranormal Investigators (IPI) organization. IPI is an international coming together of paranormal researchers and "ghost hunters" collaborating and sharing to further the science of paranormal research. This affiliation also gives us access to even more of the best and brightest in the world and proves to be an outstanding resource for information and consultation.
The first historical count of a ghost hunt was recorded in 100AD. The story was already a century old when it was recorded. It's focus was a haunted house in ancient Athens being investigated by a philosopher of the day, Athenodoros Cananites. Ghost hunting in one form or another has been an ongoing adventure and likely has occurred as long as man has lived and died on this earth. For something that has been studied for so long in so many different ways, it is amazing that ghosts have neither been proved nor disproved. With new technology available, the hope is that proof (on either side of the coin) will soon be found, and that we can contribute to this eventual discovery.
S.P.I takes a very skeptical approach to paranormal investigations. This is not to say that we "think you're crazy" after all - we are the ones out there ghost hunting.. right? Our approach is not to discount personal experiences - we record them and report them as data. Our approach IS to find and document actual evidence on our equipment. No one needs to prove a haunting to us... we, as scientists, need to capture the evidence to prove to others - outsiders - that either a haunting exists or that ghost reports are all caused by something else. This task is daunting - because every experience is different and sometimes there are no logical answers! Our members range from very skeptical to full believers but our approach is toward the skeptical. Skeptical means, we ask questions and continue to ask questions until we have found a reasonable answer or exhausted all possible avenues. We do not stretch to find an unlikely answer, but we do explore EVERY possible "normal" answer before we start thinking "paranormal". If you want the truth - you need someone who will do just this. If you want help with your problem, you need someone who will give you real answers so that you can get the right help! For instance, if you have an issue with a plumbing pipe rubbing against a bracket which is making a terrible and frightening moaning sound in the middle of the night would it help you much to have your house cleansed of evil spirits? Of course not!
Our members not only range in belief systems but we also range in experience from medical professionals, photographers, artists, and corporate business managers. We are able to bring our varied skills and knowledge from our "paying" lives and apply them to the field of paranormal research. This unique set of skills helps S.P.I to continue to stay on the right track with science as our goal.
S.P.I is a professional organization. We are constantly growing and examining not only paranormal reports but our understanding and methodolgies to ensure that we can provide the people of Arizona and the Scientific Community with real data and real help.
